Major Frank J. Branch

During his distinguished tenure in the military, Major Frank Branch notably served in many state-side assignments, plus Korea and Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm.  Upon retiring from the U.S. Army in 1995 after 19 years of service as a Supply Materiel Management and Army Acquisition Corps Officer, Major Branch was hired as the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) for Jim Hill High School’s Army JROTC Battalion. In 2016, he became the academic advisor/tutor for the school. Major Branch has been serving an instrumental role in helping students achieve success in the classroom through college preparation classes, ACT prep workshops, and scholarship opportunities.

While at Jim Hill, Major Branch  was known  for producing what he named or called “million-dollar babies” each academic year. These scholars receive millions of dollars in scholarships for college. Under his leadership, Jim Hill has accumulated more than $139,962,630 million in scholarships for scholars   to attend some of the  foremost  institutions in the country. Major  Branch has  a passion  for helping others, especially young people. He constantly finds new and innovative ways to instruct that foster excitement.

Major Branch is active in various local community-wide initiatives.  His Army JROTC Battalion teamed with Covenant Presbyterian Church, New Hope Baptist Church, and Habitat for Humanity to build 29 homes in the Jackson Metro area.  Frank has donated 193,186 hours of community service (averaging over 7,000 hours per year since 1995).  He annually provides three Frank “Super Fantastic” Branch scholarships to senior high school students.  Other community involvement includes mentoring 5th and 6th grade at risk males and females, sponsoring needy families during the holiday season, participating in food drives for senior citizens, working with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) organizations, organizing an annual Celebrity Flag Football game to raise awareness and financial support for those affected by breast cancer, Chairman of many local organization’s Education/Scholarship committee to include the Metro-Jackson Alcorn Alumni Chapter, etc.

He has received numerous awards and honors including:  induction into the Alcorn State University National Hall of Honor, Marquis Who’s Who for Excellence in Military Service and Academic Advising, Counselors That Change Lives (CTCL), selected #1 out of 1,645 Senior Army Instructors (SAI) nationally as SAI of the year,  received JROTC Distinguished Civilian Service Award twice (#1 award for JROTC), U.S. Army Meritorious Service Award with three oak leaf clusters, 2023 Mentor of the Year award, Citizen of the year award for Community Service, etc.

Major Branch earned both a bachelor’s degree in political science/modern mathematics and subsequently a master’s degree in social science education from Alcorn State University. He also completed the Secondary Methods, Classroom Management and Learning, and the Brain Courses at Fort Monroe in Virginia. In addition, he completed the Army Acquisition Transition Course in Washington, DC. Major Branch is a graduate of the Army Command & General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and completed the path to true reform literacy at Mississippi College.
