Dr. Alfred Rankins, Jr.
Charles Edward Christian is a retired Human Resource and Organizational Development Leader. Employment included Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan), Scott Paper Company (Philadelphia, PA), Frito Lay (Dallas, Texas), Verizon (NY) Consulting for Pierce College (Philadelphia, PA), and Lextron Visteon Corporation (Jackson, MS).
Prior to working as a Human Resource Leader, he served our country from 1963 – 1968 in the United States Army as Captain and Private First Class in the United States and Japan.
Charles received a Master of Arts in Social Science from the University of Detroit, Social Work School Certification from the US Army, and Bachelor of Social Science from Alcorn State University (Magna Cum Laude), Senior Class President 1963.
Currently, you will find him mentoring with Ambassadors of the Evers Academy for African American Males (A-TEAAM) and (E-STEEM) Empowering Scholars through Tutoring, Education, Engagement and Mentoring for girls (Choose to Grow) at Blackburn Laboratory Middle School (JSD Foundation) Jackson, Mississippi. Charles received the 2023 Distinguished Achievement Award – A Decade of Service as a Mentor for International Community Ambassador Network (ICAN). He is a Member of Anderson United Methodist Church, NAACP, and ICAN. A Life member of Metro-Jackson Alcorn Alumni Chapter and served as president of the Metro-Jackson Chapter from 2006-2007.
Charles resides in Ridgeland, Mississippi with his wife, Shirley Sims Christian. They have one daughter, Kerri. He enjoys reading, sports, music and working with young people.
